We went for a walk today, late afternoon, a welcome change from a few days of sorting boxes and a day spent in ikea! There is a path not far from our house which leads along the edge of a couple of fields. One of the fields is planted, the other left to grow fallow. I’d hazard a guess that both of these fields will be covered with houses in a few years time.
The from the fields, the path led past a huge retirement village onto the other side of the estate. From there we walked back past the new school, cricket pitch, hospital and plenty more houses. The developers managed to leave a number of established trees in the estate during their building work, so it is a pleasant place to walk with a bit of a country/village feel. There were quite a few people out – a couple of guys walking their dogs and a few on their after-work run. We exchanged greetings with the dog-walkers and smiled at a man on his bike (as he was admiring our baby). We’ll have to wait and see how friendly people will be as we pass them in the street.
